Student Association

Being a student of Development Economics at UNPAR is not only about attending lectures, but also about seizing the opportunity to develop yourself through organizational activities. One of the platforms for this is the Student Association of the Development Economics Study Program (HMPSEP).

This association was established in 1985, alongside the founding of the Development Economics Study Program itself. Over time, HMPSEP underwent several name changes following regulations from the Ministry of Higher Education. It was once known as HMPSIESP until 2010, later became HMJIESP during 2010–2011, and finally returned to the name HMPSEP in 2011, which remains to this day.

In the 2025 period, HMPSEP presents the Lumi Nova Cabinet, a leadership body that carries the spirit of a “new light” to bring positive energy and a brighter direction for UNPAR Development Economics students.

Vision of HMPSEP 2025

To establish a proactive Student Association of the Development Economics Study Program that delivers real benefits.

Mission of HMPSEP 2025

  1. Strengthen unity among students while enhancing both academic and non-academic quality.
  2. Position HMPSEP as a platform for students to develop their potential and create positive change.
  3. Build HMPSEP into an innovative, adaptive, and impactful organization.

Joining HMPSEP means gaining a space to sharpen your potential, both academically and in your talents and interests. This association also serves as a channel for UNPAR Development Economics students to voice their aspirations and represent the student body in various campus activities. Through HMPSEP, you can expand both social and professional networks. Its diverse programs also create opportunities for collaboration with industries and external organizations, providing valuable experience and connections for your future career.

Structure and Flagship Programs of HMPSEP
  1. Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is the core leadership of HMPSEP, consisting of the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, and the division of Student Resource Development (PSDM). This committee acts as the main decision-maker, organizational driver, and mentor to ensure that all departments and bureaus work in alignment with HMPSEP’s vision and mission.
    • Economic Summit
One of the flagship programs under the coordination of the Executive Committee is the Economic Summit, widely known as EcSum. This annual event brings together student associations of Development Economics across Indonesia, including public universities nationwide. EcSum consists of activities such as Scientific Paper Competitions, Networking Sessions, and Focus Group Discussions.
  2. Management Committee
Within HMPSEP, there are three departments and one bureau, each focusing on their respective programs:
    1. Department of Student Welfare
This department ensures that the non-academic needs of Development Economics students are met, while also fostering a sense of community within UNPAR. Its flagship programs include:
      • Graduate’s Day: A program to appreciate and celebrate graduating students of Development Economics at UNPAR.
      • Economics Development League: Sports competitions open to all Development Economics students, from freshmen to alumni, to strengthen bonds across cohorts.
      • PLKMB (Campus Orientation Program for New Students): The starting point for new students to get to know Development Economics at UNPAR.
    2. Department of Education
This department focuses on building and supporting the academic development of Development Economics students at UNPAR. Its programs include:
      • DEE (Development Economics Event): An annual seminar featuring distinguished experts in the field of economics.
      • Mentoring: Group study sessions held before mid-term and final exams.
    3. Department of External Affairs
This department is responsible for applying academic knowledge to the community in line with UNPAR’s motto “Bakuning Hyang Mrih Guna Santyaya Bhakti”. Its flagship program includes:
      • Rural Socialization: Conducted twice during the 2025 period, this program provides support to villages based on their specific needs in order to foster local development.
    4. Bureau of Media and Information
This bureau represents HMPSEP in the field of publication and communication. It manages social media, documentation, and organizational branding to broaden the reach and visibility of HMPSEP’s activities.

By joining HMPSEP, you will not only gain academic experience but also build relationships, broaden perspectives, and create opportunities to grow. It is the best space for you to learn, connect, and thrive together with your peers in Development Economics at UNPAR.
